I’m a big fan of culture, technology, authenticity, community & progress. My idea of a good time is sitting around a campfire reflecting and discussing ideas one minute and having genuine laughs another. As for design, I often relate to the thought that the medium is more important than the message. The communication of a design can make or break how it’s received. It can distort or clarify. Attract or repel. I humbly strive to be a part of the balance between innovative and tried-and-true design execution. I have a background in creative self-employment and independent business management in the performance arts (dance, theatre, film & TV acting). Before diving into full stack design at RED Academy, I completed a BA in Writing at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. I feel that creative & copywriting has a strong role to play in product design, igniting that extra spark in relaying the core message. While I’ve always valued creative expression, my inner dialogue and thought processes are driven by a grounded lens of stability, logic, and reason, which is what drew me to user experience. In UX/UI I found a field that merged both logic and creativity. I’d say I consider myself a people person, but also an introspect.
I believe that when the right choice of words, design technique, and up-to-date research and testing come together, an interface can communicate its purpose in the most effective way.
